Miranda's Story

“Worthy of adoration” wonderful, adored one, unique and amazing

Miranda Streed was born in a small town in East Texas. She grew up in
a Christian home and attended Christian school most of her school years.
From an early age Miranda was joyful, fun and free spirited. By the time
she could barely form a sentence, she was already cracking jokes. She
would do anything to make people laugh or smile. Among all the qualities
she carried throughout her life, Miranda had a distinct, uniqueness to be
able to connect with people, and not just any people. If there was a loner,
outcast or anyone just having a bad day and Miranda was there, she would
be sure to make them her friend. Growing up in a christian home and
school, if she ever saw anyone being rejected or judged, it always
bothered her to her core.

After highschool and into her later teen years and
after her own experiences with rejection, Miranda went through a confusing
time (like most of us do at this age) which ultimately led her down a dark
path for a little while. During this time her family continued to pray for her
and love her and declare God's promises over her life.

One night in
January of 2017 Miranda attended a life long friend's testimony at a local
church. She walked in and pushed through the crowded room to sit front
and center. Tears streamed down Miranda's face as she listened to the
testimony of freedom, redemption and God's unfailing love for His daughter.
Miranda saw HOPE that night. After that she was on a mission to show all
her friends that same hope. She began going back to church and taking her
friends. She would call her dad and ask him to pray for her friends that
were in hopeless situations. She told him people were making fun of her for
reading her bible and playing worship music but she didn't care, she
continued to push forward. One day while talking to her dad, he asked her,
“Miranda, why don't you just come home. Please come home and have a
normal life here?” Miranda told him, “Dad I can't, I can't leave my friends,
these people have no one!” While counseling with her Pastor, he told her
the same thing, “ Miranda pack your bags and go home.” and she gave him
the same reply., “I can’t leave my friends, they have no one.”

Sadly, on April 4, 2017, someone decided to take Miranda's life. Through
the devastation and grief, Miranda’s family began to hear stories from 100’s
of people from all over and all walks of life. How she had brought them in
her home, when they had no where else to go and fed them, and sat with
them while they were coming off drugs, or comforting people who were
losing their children and at rock bottom. People that had no one in this
world, but she was there. At Miranda’s funeral, the church was packed with
all types of people. Not just “church” people or her friends from christian
school but the people that she stayed for, the people that she prayed for.
Drug dealers, prostitutes, strippers, all sat in church that day because
Miranda loved them. Although Miranda was no longer on this earth and
with her Heavenly Father. Miranda's prayers were answered that day.
Miranda was not perfect, none of us are, but she did love perfectly. She
loved like Jesus. She saw people how God sees us. Through her, and all
the seeds she planted in love, still today, nearly 6 years later, we are still
hearing stories and we are seeing how one act of kindness and love can
change many lives.

God gave Miranda’s dad a prophetic word over her when she was little
and it was a promise that he held onto even when Miranda was going
through hard times. It was that “Her NAME would be great among the
nations”

The name Miranda means: “worthy of adoration” , wonderful, adored one,
unique and amazing. It is our prayer as a family that every woman that
comes through Miranda’s Place would know that no matter what they have
been through, this is their identity. That they are worthy of adoration,
adored by their Heavenly Father and unique and amazing.
